Domestic Violence

October is National Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Month.

This is a photograph of some graffiti in some ruins in Syracuse, NY. It represents what it feels like to be sexually or physically abused by someone you love (or don't).

There are so many forms of violence, many of them not physical at all but violations nonetheless.. violations of privacy, personal space, trust, love, loyalty, promises made, simple human dignity. Words hurt terribly and are sometimes so thoughtlessly thrown around, for example, just to try to best another person in an argument and feel superior. Lately I have had words sent to me by internet that have hurt me more inside than blows of a fist ever could. And because they came from a person I love who does not want to love me anymore, the pain is completely devastating. And tears come and won't stop.
