"Hands"

God endowed us with something he gave to no other creature in quite the same way: the ability to creatively manipulate our world and our lives... the propensity to reach out and "touch someone" when we are lonely (or when THEY are)... and the spirit to raise our hands in celebration and praise. Or alarm. Like all His gifts, these Hands are merely tools until taken up and used, when they become either blessed instruments or the opposite. Or perhaps still worse... a waste of time and life.

The possibility of losing the use of one's hands due to some illness like arthritis, will really make one appreciate what your saying here. Especially the part about being able to creatively manipulate our world. We tend to take them for granted. Interesting photo.

You can thank Mary for that. She sent me the shot and I thought it would be a good takeoff point for discussion. If I did not have my hands, I would still go on, like Cat Stevens sang. But I think my world would be much different than it is now, and so I'm thankful I have the hands I have!

This shot was taken in a Church in Slovenia, so your discussing is very apropos. Thanks for your using it, Mike, and for your kind comment, Blue Rose.
