The mind is a glorious and wonderful machine. But sometimes it slips a cog or two and needs some common sense plugged in. A bit of wit or wisdom to lubricate its inner workings. Kick your shoes off...that's what this place here is for!

For a lot more about Shirley Chisholm and her remarkable career, I suggest visiting
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Shirley_Chisholm for more about her.
For those of you paper-inclined, try her book:
Chisholm, Shirley, "Unbought and Unbossed", (Boston, Houghton Mifflin, 1970) ISBN 0395109329
To make a LINK in your comments to make it easier for your readers, open a new post, give the link a title (Like more about Shirley Chisholm), select it, click the link button, paste in the link, click on edit htlm , copy the html, and paste it in. It takes longer to write all that than to do it. For example:

Well, it's quick and easy if you pay attention!
readers are more likely to click links than to copy and paste. At least, that's been my experience.
To get readers, leave comments on other people's blogs--the rights ones will come see.
Nice to catch up on remembering Shirley Chisholm.
Now, Mary, of course you know I've been waiting for someone to teach me that trick, and my little plot to have you explain it worked? (I still don't get it, but the PLOY worked, anyway. Say, how's about you answering a totally unrelated question for me. You remember Buster Brown. Well, what was the name of his DOG? If you can answer correctly, you win $200,000.
I just love to make people jump through hoops, don't I?
Time's up, no winners. Buster's canine friend was called TIGE. The two of them were in the comics as well as the shoe business. The company is still going along, with a cute new logo, too. Now for the consolation prize question: Buster has a sister. What is HER name? A hint: it's a type of shoe!
