The Engine building, now known as West Engineering, housed the school of Marine Architecture when I was there in the early seventies, with a long tank where ship hull designs were tested. The Arch leads the way onto the famous "Diag". the crossroads of central campus, a very prominent place during the anti-war demonstrations of that era, and a political forum-place for many other causes, including Earth Day and Ban the Bomb rallies, Civil Rights demonstratioons, and free concerts by many "gonzo" groups such as the notorious "MC-5".
